The central dashboard gauges will need to be swapped over. The seats will need to be swapped over so the folding seat is on the near side as you sit in the car.If possible, a second hand dashboard is much cheaper. Moss Europe do list them and I understand North Devon Sheet Metal reproduce them. Reproduction metal dashboards are expensive. If the car has been newly imported the headlamps will need to be switched so they dip in the correct direction.US cars had red Lucas L594 type glass lenses which should to be swapped to amber in the UK, although if the car is early enough there is no legal requirement to do this. The holes left behind in the bulkhead will need to be filled with suitable grommets.FOR SALE Tr3 3a dash conversion ready for trim or can be completely finished and trimmed. Rack and pinion steering brings its own issues due to the indicators being on the control head although this can be overcome. I definitely wanted to keep a steering box as I want the car to be as original as possible, regardless of any improvements in steering efforts.

Only about 10% of TR3’s (and 2’s) produced were right hand drive and most of them have been scrapped. The conversion from LHD to RHD is simple in theory but the parts are hard to find if you want to retain a steering box rather than convert to rack and pinion steering. I didn’t really mind the car being a left hand drive car but given the choice I prefer right hand drive as 99.9% of my driving is likely to be in the UK. It's possible someone has changed yours for tail lights. When I bought my car originally, it was a left hand drive car having been imported from Austin, Texas. However, some people modify the beehive lamps for extra brake lights. In the rear, you should have the "beehive" lamps that are only for turn signals the corner lamps do double duty for tail and brake lights. The front lights do double duty, with a smaller (dimmer) filament for marker lights, and a brighter one for turn signals. According to Piggott, it became standard at TS60001, built in Oct 59 (but was fitted sporadically to cars as far back as Feb 59). The exception would be driving a totally dark road at night, when you want to turn the panel lights off to improve your night vision.īy 1960 though, I think you should have had a rheostat for the panel lights, and the rheostat was mounted in the next hole down. So normal operation is to just leave the panel switch on all the time. One point not covered above: even with the panel light switch on, the panel lights should only operate when the tail lights are on.
